Apart from being the name of one of the best TV shows of all time, Twin Peaks is also the name of an up-and-coming garage rock band from Chicago. They just finished up a tour supporting hometown homies The Orwells, and like that band, visited the KEXP studios while in Seattle. Above, watch them perform a four song set.

The young four-piece plays garage rock-based music with a slightly softer edge than The Orwells, though it's still generally very driving and no-frills. Opening with the unreleased track "Telephone," Twin Peaks then transition from its bouncy shuffle to the more rocking "Flavor," a song that still manages to pack in some gorgeous guitar lines in between its fiery choruses. Host Cheryl Waters then stops the band for a short interview, in which they discuss their hometown music scene, a desire to open an all-ages venue in Chicago, and the fact that three of the band's members once attended Washington State's Evergreen University.

"Irene," a standout track from last year's Sunken is next, bringing with it a nimble beat and a bevy of falsetto vocals. Twin Peaks close with "Boomers," an anthemic slice of slacker rock that incorporates a thrilling, fast paced breakdown as both a lead-in to its choruses and its outro. Waters makes several comments on the young band's energy, noting that the video was taped at 11 AM and that her camera crew were getting whiplash from trying to focus on all of the members' thrilling antics.

Keep your eye out for Twin Peaks. They may not be as well-known as their tourmates The Orwells yet, but they have enough personality and talent to put a quick end to their relative anonymity. Watch The Orwells' KEXP set, taped on the same day as this one, right here on Zumic.
