Posted outside the door of Webster Hall, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs posted a sign expressly banning the now ubiquitous use of smartphones at their show:
"PLEASE DO NOT WATCH THE SHOW THROUGH A SCREEN ON YOUR SMART DEVICE/CAMERA.
PUT THAT SHIT AWAY as a courtesy to the person behind you and to Nick, Karen and Brian.
MUCH LOVE AND MANY THANKS!
YEAH YEAH YEAHS"
The sign was obvious to anybody that walked past the door.
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs again reiterated their intentions to keep the crowd from using cell phones when Karen O shouted "Put those motherfuckers away" after their second song (a rendition of Show Your Bones' "Gold Lion"). Spin reported that some people continued to violate the band's wishes and used their phones, most people respected the wishes of the band. In fact, Spin Tweeted the sign and it received massive support. Ra Ra Riot commended the move saying:
Ha, amazing! Wish we were there RT@spinmagazine: We wish every band posted show rules like @yyys twitter.com/SPINmagazine/s…
