Incubus have released their eighth studio album, appropriately titled 8, through Island Records.

The LP features 11 songs covering 40 minutes, and is the first full-length studio release since 2011's If Not Now, When?. Dave Sardy helped as producer, and Skrillex mixed the record. Band members include Brandon Boyd (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Michael Einziger (lead guitar), Jose Pasillas II (drums), Chris Kilmore (piano, keyboards, mellotron, organ), and Ben Kenney (bass).

8 is a record which finds Incubus delivering their unique style of rock with finely crafted production and electronic experimentation. "No Fun," "Nimble Bastard," "Glitterbomb," and "Throw Out The Map," are typical songs for the band, with catchy hooks and strong guitar riffs. Not to say they're boring or unoriginal, but they are the style of rock that longtime fans will instantly recognize from the band's earlier work.

Incubus do take chances though, noticeably on songs like the mellow "Undefeated" and "Make No Sound In The Digital Forest," an instrumental track with psychedelic riffs and hypnotic effects. "Love In A Time Of Surveillance" is probably the LP's heaviest song, beginning with Rage Against The Machine-esque guitar riffs before falling into a bass-heavy groove.

Hopefully, 8 is an indicator that Incubus will continue to evolve as a band and experiment with different sounds while not straying too far from what makes them great.

Songs we like are "No Fun," "Nimble Bastard," "Glitterbomb," "Love In A Time Of Surveillance," and "Throw Out The Map."

Pick up 8 on Amazon. You can also stream the full album for free above, via Spotify.

Incubus will be hitting the road with Jimmy Eat World for a North American tour beginning in July.
