There was a time where fans of Cannibal Ox were worried they'd never get a follow up to 2001's The Cold Vein. That time has officially come to an end, and we're excited to bring you a full stream of the Harlem duo's nineteen-track album, Blade of the Ronin.
You can expect to hear no-frills, underground hip hop from Cannibal Ox, who are comprised of Vast Aire and Vordul Mega. They bring a nice cast of guests with them as well as Elzhi, MF DOOM, U-God, Artifacts, and more MCs lend bars to the Ox.
Production, handled mostly by Bill Cosmiq, is reminiscent of early Wu-Tang Clan, but with a twist. There are soul samples cleverly melted over boom-bap beats with expert scratches, recreating golden era hip hop with a futuristic, grimy twist. Upon first listen, the wait was worth it!
Blade of the Ronin is available for pre-order on Amazon (CD, MP3). You can stream the full album for free above.
