Last year, producer Diplo of Major Lazer fame collaborated with vocalists Justin Bieber and MØ, respectively, to record the mega-hits "Where Are Ü Now" and "Lean On." Today, Diplo's main group Major Lazer released a lyric video featuring both singers togehter. Check out the brand-new single "Cold Water," featuring both Bieber and MØ above on YouTube.
The video shows the song's memorable, if cliché, lyrics, bouncing up and down against their reflection in an animated pool of water. Co-written with Ed Sheeran and Benny Blanco, the song has a reggae-influenced beat and a chart-worthy hook. This brand of pop is becoming Bieber's calling card as a vocalist, and Danish indie star MØ's standout verse adds another dimension to the chilled-out electronic jam. A quote from Diplo in the YouTube Video's description reads:
I had been trying to link with Benny Blanco and Ed Sheeran for years to find the right song we could all work on together and the moment I heard this one, I knew that it was the one. The timing was perfect and when we approached Justin, he was also in love with the song we all had written. I thought it would be interesting to incorporate another vocal and seeing she’s family, I reached out to Mø and we decided to try our best to make something fresh and interesting as Major Lazer.
"Cold Water" is expected to be on Major Lazer's next album, Music Is the Weapon, which does not yet have a release date. You can pick up the song as a single right now on Amazon.
