A new Jerry Garcia Band archival album titled GarciaLive, Volume Ten, May 20, 1990 will soon be released. Above, you can listen the group's performance of "Deal," which will be included on the upcoming 2-CD set.
A staple in Grateful Dead sets since it debuted in 1971, this uptempo version is accentuated by Merl Saunders warm organ playing. "Deal" was the closing song of the first set on this night. Over 8 minutes, Jerry extends the tune with energetic soloing that climbs to several emotional peaks.
GarciaLive, Volume Ten, May 20, 1990 will feature a complete concert performance from the Jerry Garcia Band. Members of the group included Jerry Garcia on guitar, bassist John Kahn, drummer Dave Kemper, keyboardist Merl Saunders, and vocalists Gloria Jones and Jacklyn LaBranch.
