Earlier this month, Damon Albarn debuted new track "Heavy Seas of Love" at SXSW, and now he's shared the song's studio version, which features Brian Eno. Stream it above, and scroll down to view its lyrics.
Somewhat surprisingly, "Heavy Seas of Love" comes out of the gate with Eno singing lead vocals. His recognizable baritone is not as pretty as Albarn's voice, which we get a big dose of in the song's second half, but Albarn probably made the right call letting him do more than craft some delicate electronic flourishes on the song. Whereas Albarn and a backing choir take "Heavy Seas of Love" to inspirational heights, Eno sounds more wistful, making the whole song seem like a conversation between a bummed-out Eno and an optimistic Albarn.
Preorder Albarn's upcoming album Everyday Robots (out on April 28th) from iTunes, and you'll receive a free download of previously-released tracks "Lonely Press Play" and "Everyday Robots." Damon Albarn ft Brian Eno "Heavy Seas of Love" lyrics:
When your soul isn’t right
And it’s raw to the night
It’s in your hands
When the traces of dark come
To fade in the light
You’re in safe handsHeavy seas of love
Radiance is in you
As above so below
On the heavy seas of loveHeavy seas of love
We come together in you
Counting out the new moons
On the heavy seas of loveWhen the world is to tall
You can jump you won’t fall
You’re in safe hands
What the day will now give
How those seeds will now live
It’s in your handsHeavy seeds of love
Radiance is in you
As above so below
On the heavy seas of loveHeavy seas of love
We come together in you
As above so below
On the heavy seas of loveHeavy seeds of love
Radiance is in you
As above so below
On the heavy seas of loveHeavy seas of love
We come together in you
As above so below
As above so below
On the heavy seas of love
