Emo-pop rockers Fall Out Boy returned this year after a four-year hiatus with a new album called Save Rock and Roll. Last week, they played their single "The Phoenix," from the album on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Leaving behind their usual stage shows and antics, they performed a straightforward rendition of the song, which has a heavy dance beat throughout, as well as curiously synth-sounding guitar lines during the chorus, giving it an almost 80s feel at times. Whether or not this album will actually save rock and roll remains to be seen.
