Unsound is an upcoming documentary that seeks to explore the rise of the digital age through the perspective of the musicians themselves. The film tries to give the musicians' point of view on what many see as an exceedingly complex issue. Many artists are interviewed on this subject, including Brett Gurewitz (Bad Religion), Jurassic 5, Chris Vrenna (Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson), Zoe Keating, David Lowery (Camper Van Beethoven, Cracker), and Diplo.
While almost everyone would probably agree that musicians should be able to make money selling their music, many are quick to point out that the digital revolution has also made it easier for any musician to have their music out there. Both sides could agree, however, that surviving as a musician these days is certainly not easy.
Aside from blatantly misquoting Hunter S. Thompson at the beginning of the trailer, Unsound looks like it will be an interesting, eye-opening documentary, especially for those who might not understand how the music business works.
