During the month of November for the past few years, the Grateful Dead have celebrated with 30 Days Of Dead. The band share one song per day from their music vault as a free download. The Dead's official archivist David Lemieux picks all the tracks, which are a great mix of familiar favorites and off-kilter rarities.
Now that it's December 1st, all 30 tracks are available. You can download the songs in 320kbps MP3 format at the band's official website and Rhino Records as individual tracks or a single zip file.
Some of the more notable tracks that stand out in this year's collection:
"Crazy Fingers" from 1976, a relatively new "Estimated Prophet" from 1977, a "Dark Star" from 1969, an explosive "The Music Never Stopped" from 1978, and a relaxed "He's Gone" that leads into a jam from 1981. Also worth mentioning is "New Potato Caboose" from 1969, a lengthy "The Other One" leading into a jam before "I Know You Rider" from 1973, a rarely performed "You Don't Have To Ask" from 1966, "Black Throated Wind" from 1973, and the Pigpen original "Operator" from 1970.
