It was a beautiful, sunny Saturday at Pier 84 in Hudson River Park, NYC, and for rock music aficionados, there was no better place to spend the day than at the 4Knots Music Festival. Bands from all over the U.S. and England joined together to treat fans to a smorgasbord of indie rock.

Here are pictures of every band who played, in chronological order:

SURFBORT AT 4KNOTS MUSIC FESTIVAL 2015

Under a hazy, hot sun, hometown band Surfbort got the festivities underway with an abrasive, no-holds-barred brand of rock that captured the attention of those in attendance.

HEAVEN AT 4KNOTS MUSIC FESTIVAL 2015

Another NYC band, Heaven, took the stage and treated the crowd to a half hour set of charming indie rock tunes reminiscent to new wave legends New Order.

HEATERS AT 4KNOTS MUSIC FESTIVAL 2015

The temperature started to creep into the mid-80s as fans, young and old, started to make their way into the park. Michigan band Heaters were up next, and delivered psychedelic rock candy for the ears.

L.A.'s Meatbodies kept the music flowing with an energized set of relentless punk music that spontaneously formed the day's first mosh pit. The band confessed that they were sick from consuming big amounts of cheese the day before, but you wouldn't have guessed it from the intensity they brought.

HAPPYNESS AT 4KNOTS MUSIC FESTIVAL 2015

Many people took to the shaded lawn area to soak in the mellow indie tunes of London's Happyness. Their alt-rock brand of music was the perfect compliment to the relaxed atmosphere in the park.

Screaming Females are a punk rock trio that have been getting a lot of positive feedback from their new album, Rose Mountain. A somewhat large crowd had gathered to watch them perform in the late afternoon, and were certainly not dissappointed. The band, with guitarist / singer Marissa Paternoster leading the way, unleashed a fury of songs featuring distorted guitar, pounding drums, and thumping bass. The crowd loved them, and were one of the best band's of the day.

MIKAL CRONIN AT 4KNOTS MUSIC FESTIVAL 2015

Garage rock guitarist Mikal Cronin followed with songs steeped in the California sound, and had the crowd in the palm of his hand.

Chicago's Twin Peaks administered an adrenaline shot of energy back into the crowd with a brand of wild, uninhibited garage rock. Their latest LP, Wild Onion, was received favorably by music critics, and those at the show were fortunate enough to hear some tracks from it.

STEPHEN MALKMUS AND THE JICKS AT 4KNOTS MUSIC FESTIVAL 2015

By the time Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks hit the stage in the evening hours, the sun was beginning to set in the distance. The oppressive heat was fading away, and the alt-rock tunes the band was providing were as breezy as the wind coming off the Hudson River.

SUPER FURRY ANIMALS AT 4KNOTS MUSIC FESTIVAL 2015

Closing out a spectacular day filled with great music was England's Super Furry Animals, playing their first North American gig since 2009. A large crowd stuck around to catch their set, and the band captured everyone's attention early in the set.

Super Furry Animals mixed electronics with a guitar driven space rock sound that was heightened by trippy background visuals. The smell of weed and sweat permeated throughout the air, and peope danced and bopped their heads to the band's magical sounds. The majority of songs came from the albums Rings Around the World, Phantom Power, and Radiator.

The band delivered an exciting show that heightened the senses of many in the crowd, and left many smiles on faces as people shuffled into the New York City night.
