And now for something completely different...

Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society has taken on the Bill Withers classic 1971 soul ballad "Ain't No Sunshine," which may be surprising considering that the Black Label Society is a hard rock and heavy metal band. But while the song is a pretty faithful version of the song with great guitar work and performances from all involved, the music video is completely insane (and awesome). The guitar tone and riffs are similar to the work of Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, which is some of my favorite guitar playing of all-time. Really excellent.

Things start with Zakk Wylde playing acoustic guitar out in a field... but wait a minute... he's wearing a horse head and he's in a stable? Next, we see drinking with his lady horse friend and a rooster. Then the rooster starts acting like a cock. We're reminded of Homer Simpson's wisdom: "Alcohol, the cause of and solution to all of life's problems." More soulful guitar playing. Zakk Wylde's flowing mane is quite impressive. Then Pantera vocalist Vinnie Paul is miming a guitar solo with some fake rain and lightning effect? Ok. Then the horses are watching TV in bed and guess what they're watching... horse racing, of course. Then an epic showdown between horse and rooster that ends in a flying karate kick to the face.

If that isn't love, I don't know what is.
