Eminem, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Paul Rosenburg and other Shady Records artists sat down with Complex to discuss the history of one of the most dominant rap labels of the 2000s. To celebrate the label's 15 year anniversary, Complex created this 32 minute documentary detailing its rise from nothing to overwhelming success. Watch Not Afraid: The Shady Records Story above.

While pushing copies of his underground debut album, Infinite, at the Hip Hop Shop in Detroit, Eminem was introduced to Paul Rosenburg, his future manager and lawyer, by Proof, his best friend and hype man. Paul, who was studying music law at the time, became an instant fan and kept in touch with the budding rapper. A few years later, the two would form Shady Records with the help of Dr. Dre and his Aftermath label, which was backed by Interscope.

Shady Records was established in 1999 after the release of Eminem's major label debut album, The Slim Shady LP. Since the label's creation, it has been a home for artists who want to express themselves no matter how controversial the content. They provided a platform for artists like Eminem, 50 Cent, and Obie Trice to be themselves. The documentary also features Shady recording artists Mr. Porter (of D12) and Royce Da 5'9" (of Slaughterhouse), who are both longtime friends of Eminem.

The Shady family discuss Eminem's bumpy road to success, Proof's tragic death, and Em's ability to discover talents like 50 Cent, Slaughterhouse, and Yelawolf. It's the story of Shady Records, told by the people who made it happen.
