The Rolling Stones have turned their 2 performances at London's Hyde Park on July 6 and 13, 2013 into a concert DVD which will be officially released on November 11th. You can watch video of their "Miss You" performance above.
"Miss You" is a pretty unique song. Originally released as the opening track on the 1978 album Some Girls, this is about as funky as british classic rock has ever gotten. The bass line is the heart of the song, intertwined with guitars, keys, horns, and laid on top of a rock solid drum groove supplied by Charlie Watts. Mick Jagger's vocal delivery is also fantastic, telling the story of missing a special someone. This Hyde Park 2013 performance is faster than the original version of the song, but the uptempo nature is good for the high energy that a concert of this magnitude demands. The guys on stage are having a great time, and bass player Darryl Jones fills in for Bill Wyman admirably. It's the 51st year of The Rolling Stones as a band, and while they're certainly doing their victory lap, they're also making real good music.
