The Oscars are the biggest entertainment award show every year, and this year featured some interesting entries into the pool for Best Original Song. Watch U2 perform their song "Ordinary Love" from the film Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom above.

Much like the music video for "Ordinary Love" which was released in 2013, this performance pulls at the heartstrings. Just thinking about the incredible life of the great Nelson Mandela is deep enough to get goosebumps. This haunting acoustic performance is part slow burning vocal pop and part subdued folk rock. Like a lot of U2's music, the message of the song is simple, yet poignant.

Bono's vocal melodies and falsetto are perhaps over the top, but that's always been U2's modus operandi. It's cool to see The Edge contributing some vocal harmonies and his post-punk guitar style is still legendary. Ever the showman, Bono crawls out to the edge of the stage during the performance and then triumphantly reaches up toward the sky as a giant picture of Mendala is projected behind the band.
