During their New Year's Eve concert in Boulder, Colorado, Yonder Mountain String Band put a bluegrass touch on David Bowie's 1972 song "Ziggy Stardust." Stream it above, and the track is also available as a free download through SoundCloud.
The band retains the song's rock energy while incorporating their own style. Banjo and violin add a soothing touch, and electric guitar leads the way (Ziggy played guitar, after all). It's a great version that doesn't stray far from The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars track.
You can purchase a soundboard recording of the entire concert at YonderMountainLive.com.

If you're into jambands, we also recommend Widespread Panic's awesome cover of "Heroes," from their New Years Eve concert in Atlanta.
