The Avett Brothers played a spirited 56 minute performance last night at David Letterman's television studio, The Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City, for the CBS online special "Live on Letterman."
It's a fantastic mix of folk, country, bluegrass, rock, and pop, that coalesces into timeless good music. Scott Avett (banjo & keys) and Seth Avett (guitar) lead the way, with support from Bob Crawford (bass), Joe Kwon (cello), Paul DeFiglia (keyboards), Tania Elizabeth (fiddle), and Mike Marsh (drums). The tunes vary from up-tempo barn burners to slow ballads, as members of the band switch around from song to song. In all, a very entertaining show.
