Things get meta in Weezer's new single, "Back To The Shack," the first full track we've heard from their upcoming ninth studio album, Everything Will Be Alright In The End.
The song is a self-referential barrage of power pop, with Rivers Cuomo apologizing for not rocking hard enough. The distorted guitars and pummeling drums hearken back to 1994's The Blue Album, but in case the message isn't clear enough, Cuomo sings, "Kick in the door, more hardcore / Rockin' out like it's '94." While it may be an oddly literal take on a return to rock, the song's singalong chorus proves that they still have the chops to pull it off.
