After performing "Try To Explain" for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, The Flaming Lips covered David Bowie's "Heroes" as a web exclusive. Check it:

Wayne Coyne's electric Jesus outfit is pretty intense as it melds with an elaborate stage setup of fiber-optic cables, spinning multi-colored lights, and gigantic balls.

Musically, the band is doing justice to a truly great song here. They're definitely not trying to replicate the classic song as it was recorded by Bowie in 1977, but they do capture the same essence. In this Flaming Lips version, the drums are wild and the guitars are understated but spot on with the note bending and sliding. Wayne Coyne's vocals are eerily beautiful. Very rockin' stuff.
