Alt-J performed "Latch" by Disclosure & Sam Smith earlier today. Watch video of the performance above, via YouTube.
What could have been a very interesting cover turns out to be pretty uneventful. Joe Newman and Gus Unger-Hamilton have a few nice moments singing, but those are counter-balanced by a few times when the pre-recorded backing track is out of sync with the live performance. The tempos just don't match up. We see in the video that there's a Pro Tools session with samples and percussion programmed, which takes away from the live element of the BBC Live Lounge. Is it too much to ask that bands use an MPC-style piece of hardware to trigger samples during live performances?
