Kendrick Lamar has unveiled an intriguing clip for the melodic triumph "LOYALTY." The film features a stylish Rihanna and follows video releases for fellow DAMN. songs "ELEMENT.," "DNA.," and "HUMBLE." Watch above.
The song exhibits a tight chemistry between Lamar and Rihanna, with delicate vocal interplay and a downtempo groove that glides underneath an augmented vocal sample of Bruno Mars' "24K Magic." The lyrics acknowledge temptation, question internal allegiances, and eventually urge a religious commitment to God. The duo raps, "Anybody you would slide for? Anybody you would die for? That's what God for."
Embracing the lyrical nods to loyal communion, the video depicts a series of precarious situations that test the relationship between Lamar and Rihanna. In one instance, Lamar fights to protect Rihanna, while in a surreal scene Lamar holds Rihanna's hand as she hangs over the side of a building. Under the direction of Dave Meyers and The Little Homies (also behind the "HUMBLE." video), the clip thrives on its captivating visuals.
