Yesterday, St. Paul and The Broken Bones debuted the first single from their upcoming sophomore album Sea of Noise. Above, you can listen to the uplifting "All I Ever Wonder" on SoundCloud. The song sees the band moving out of the Southern soul niche they carved with their 2014 debut Half the City, and heading in the direction of classic funk.

The choir which backs up frontman Paul Janeway's powerful vocals is the most conspicuous new element in the St. Paul and The Broken Bones mix. In a interview with Entertainment Weekly, where "All I Ever Wonder" premiered, Janeway describes the vision behind these new voices:

In opera, a choir [represents] the voices of angels, and a solo is the voice of human nature, that could reach out and make you cry... I used that, having the choir be that heavenly voice and the solo stuff be the brokenness of human nature.
