The original, handwritten lyrics to Bruce Springsteen's "Born To Run" are going up for auction next week and they are expected to bring in between $70,000 and $100,000. The manuscript was penned in 1974, and many of the lyrics didn't make the final cut. Check out the full image of the lyrics below.

From the auction notes:

Although Springsteen is known to have an intensive drafting process, few manuscripts of 'Born to Run' are available, with the present example being one of only two identified that include the most famous lines in the song. This iteration expresses the darkness that the early versions are known for, but has the distinction of a nearly perfected chorus.

Autograph manuscript lyrics, 1 page (8 1/2 x 11 in; 216 x 280 mm) on a single sheet of ruled notepaper, , comprising 30 lines written in blue ink, being a draft of "Born to Run," with superscript and marginal notations. In fine condition.

For any fans of The Boss with 100 grand lying around, bidding starts December 5th at Sotheby's. For the rest of us, Springsteen's new album, High Hopes comes out January 14th. Listen to the title track right here at Zumic.
