Scion's Audio Visual creative enterprise has just released "As I Unfold," a track from up-and-coming Chicago emcee Kembe X. The song features a guest verse from lyrical maestro Ab-Soul and a hook from Alex Wiley. The track has the soulful Chicago hip hop sound, which has been somewhat lost over the past few years as drill music has taken over the scene. The song is off of Scion AV Presents: Kembe X, a free EP which will be released August 19th. "As I Unfold" is available for free download in the player above. The track is unfortunately censored, but it still definitely is an awesome release.
Kembe X delivers an impressive, hard-hitting verse to open up the song. Ab-Soul then raps his standard labyrinthine mindfuck of a verse, which needs multiple listens to fully comprehend. Alex Wiley chips in with the passionate hook, and Kembe X handles the bridge. Wiley may be next up in the quickly evolving Chicago hip hop scene, partially because of the his vocal range he showcases on "As I Unfold."
