Lukas Nelson, Willie Nelson's extremely talented son, has just shared "Find Yourself." The track will live on Love Yourself, his third LP with his band, Promise of the Real.
The track is straight-up, uncut soul with Nelson's impassioned howling leading the way. The groovy backing track has a bit more distortion than Al Green would have used, but the palpable heartbreak and down-to-earth lyrics make the tune fit in perfectly with its old-school counterparts. Lukas spoke with Rolling Stone about the track:
This is my favorite song on the record – the most personal to me and yet I think anyone can relate to it. I always feel like I'm cleaning my soul out when I sing it. It's my tribute to the soul musicians I grew up idolizing, and it's really fun to play live.
