Earlier this week we noted the celebration of the 40th anniversary of Pink Floyd's classic album, Dark Side of the Moon, by showcasing 40 variations of the Dark Side of the Moon album cover art. Well, today is the official anniversary of the album's first release in the UK and to celebrate we have assembled some great live performances of contemporary artist's covering this legendary album.
The Flaming Lips are a trip. It's no surprise they covered this album which is a classic acid trip companion.

Ever hear of the Easy Star All-Stars? They are a reggae group from New York City and they do a kick ass version of Dark Side, appropriately named the Dub Side of the Moon.

To round out this list, we have Phish. The legendary jamband is famous for covering entire albums by other bands during Halloween performances, but this was a special treat 2 days after Halloween for Phans who happened to be at The "E" Center in West Valley, Utah. During the 2nd set, they played Dark Side of the Moon sandwiched between their song Harpua, and introduced with a helping friendly storytime moment from Trey Anastasio. Phish encored the show with "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana. Awesome!
