description

Queen of country-soul Yola celebrated a breakout moment around the release of her debut record Walk Through Fire produced by Dan Auerbach, which she recorded in Easy Eye Sound Studio in Nashville, with legendary session musicians and writers who have worked with the likes of Elvis and Aretha Franklin. Her remarkable story has seen her go from living homeless on London’s streets to become one of 2019’s breakout stars. She grew up in poverty, was banned from making music as a child and was literally engulfed in flames in a house fire, an experience which inspired the album's title. Yola made her US TV debut on CBS Saturday Morning, won critical acclaim with media from The New York Times to Rolling Stone and fans including Jamie Lee Curtis and Kendall Jenner and had a triumphant SXSW festival. Yola has been supported extensively at radio in the US including NPR Morning Edition, WFUV, KCRW, World Cafe, KUTX, The Current and high positions on the US Americana chart. Yola will perform at Newport Folk Festival, The Hollywood Bowl with Lord Huron and Shakey Graves and The Lincoln Centre Out of Doors alongside Patty Griffin. She will also tour with Greta Van Fleet (Europe) and will share the stage with The Killers, Lake Street Dive and Andrew Bird as well as perform at Brandi Carlile's Girls Just Wanna Weekend in 2020 with much more to be announced soon.
